When I saw this example of an article, I knew I wanted to do something similar within the aspect of giving my reader tips. Since this article is about music, mine will be quite different. However I was able to learn a lot about what I should include and how I should phrase things. This article uses colloquial language. I think that this is because they have a younger adult population of readers. These people are more likely to use this diction and understand the meaning of phrases such as "karma is gonna get you," "I was like," and "get moves like Jagger." Throughout their tips, they include examples of songs and other things that most of the readers would know. Although I really enjoy the quotes throughout this article, I do not think I would want to include many in this type of article when I write it. I would like to use diction that everyone would understand and that is very versatile, because it doesn't matter when they start their fitness journey so I would like it to appeal to people of all ages. The author of this article seemed to talk more about themselves by using "I" too much, while I would like to focus more on the reader and be uplifting and helpful. This author created a happy and young tone with their word choice. I would also like to create a happy and uplifting tone and mood with my words and diction. This article splits up the tips into short main points with large clear numbering, then it goes into further description and explanation of the main point in a smaller font. I like this structure best for this type of article and plan on doing something similar. This double spread article consists of one whole page of an image with quotes relating to the tips. I think this also helps to set the tone and will be beneficial to appealing to the eye of the reader and keeping their gaze.
