What significance does the continuing development of digital media technology have for media institutions and audiences?

The continuous development of digital media technology causes change in media institutions and audiences. Advancements in technology give audiences easier access to content if they are available on the new technology. For example, with more availability online, some people in south Florida have resulted in using the Sun Sentinel app for their local news instead of having to go out and get the newspaper. This change in the audience's preference also changes media institutions. Media institutions must now cater to the audiences wants and make their content or media available online, or on the newest platforms.
